The first of my hand-shapes from 15 years on the planer to be transferred over to computer file. The JAKE epitomizes a good WA board.
With Endless input from /ADV riders and friends around the globe it has become a top tier design best suited to quality waves and will light up when put in the right conditions. Throw it in your board bag whenever you’re heading somewhere with quality surf.
Design Brief
High full-length curvy rocker. Key attributes of the hull are a deep single running throughout the entirety of the bottom that gives way to an extreme amount of deep double between the fins with a vee starting behind the trailing fin and releasing of the tail block. This projects the board out of turns with an unhinged amount of speed and power.
The volume is consistent through the foil which is especially noticeable on the deck line that shows just how much inherent bend this design has and why it suits quality waves. Both nose and tail block are sleek and well balanced.
The overall sleek outline keeping in harmony with the bottom contours has a natural hip before the fins which gives it an unmistakable edginess when pushed hard and begins to engage. Once flowing through the pocket this foil won’t stop giving.
We have a played down version of the original design that the team has been working on and developing. The LSJ is better suited to beach park style waves and conditions with a lowered rocker, softened use of concaves and fuller playful outline. The direct step down from the original file which will make a great all-rounder.
